This is the minimum rate at step one of the grade.  Higher rates may be authorized in cases of hard-to-fill positions where it is appropriate to the qualification of the appointee.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marine Technician; Engineering watch keeping officer; perform watch keeping duties as directed; conducting rounds and check of running machinery and engineering compartments on taking over a watch and once an hour therefore; complete running machinery logs, monitor fuel, fresh water oil expenditures; perform day hand duties directed; conduct engineering planned maintenance and defect rectification as directed; performs ship’s husbandry and cleaning duties as directed; fire fighting and damage control duties per Watch and Station Bill; and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS:
High School graduate or graduated from a Maritime Institution plus two years(2) of Seaman experience.
