The Government of the Federated States of Micronesian (FSM) seeks well qualified individuals to fill the position of National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) Project Assistant, FSM National Government at the Department of Resources and Development.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate with Government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), local communities, and other key stakeholders to gather final input and feedback on NBSAP and thereafter its implementation progress; assist with the review and assessment of FSM’s existing NBSAP in relation to the goals, targets, and indicators of the GBF; serve as the primary point of contact for partners and stakeholders involved in NBSAP related activities; gather and provide information to the Assistant Secretary for Marine for the half yearly progress reports to funding agency; coordinate with partner on scientific data collections, interpretations, and verification to ensure integrity of data prior to official use; monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of outputs, reports, and assessments; manage budgets and resources allocated for NBSAP alignment, ensuring efficient use of funds; assist with the organization of training sessions, capacity-building workshops, and awareness campaigns to inform stakeholders about biodiversity issues and the NBSAP process; assist in planning and preparing budgets for the Division; assist with the promotion of understanding and engagement with biodiversity conservation efforts among local communities and the general public; assist efforts organized with various agencies, communities, states, schools, and farmers to promote biodiversity conservation; participate in programs or activities or function impacting training, workshops, meetings, and administrative activities for the Bureau and Ministry; participate in initiating legislations, policies, and programs concerning biodiversity with the National and State Governments; other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor Degree in Marine Science, Marine Environmental Studies, or related field plus, plus two (2) to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in biodiversity conservation, environmental or marine resource management, project coordination, or a related field.
Salary: A biweekly salary of $846.15, depending on the applicant’s qualifications.
