FSM National Government

The Government of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) seeks well qualified individuals to fill the position of Legal Advisor for the Division of Tax & Administration under the Department of Finance & Administration (DOFA), FSM National Government in Palikir, Pohnpei FM  96941.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare legal opinions and advice for CTA as required; Assistant with prosecuting tax and Customs offences that appear before the FSM Courts; Assist or lead in tax or Customs technical or debt cases; Draft legislation or amendments to Customs and tax legislation; Provide tax and Customs legal advice as required concerning taxpayers, importers, exporters, issues, arrangements, etc.; Assist with special examinations, when necessary, due to the elements of theft, fraud, bribery, and mishandling of tax materials and information; Prepare subpoenas, summons, demand notices for payment of taxes and levies;  Assist in improving the level of Customs and tax compliance and CTA public relations in the FSM;  Develop and conduct training for CTA on new or existing legislation or policies, and procedures; Meet the obligations as an employee and comply with all policies and practices including the Code of Conduct; Complete other tasks, assignments and projects as requested by the Assistant Secretary on an ad hoc basis, that are within the incumbent’s capabilities; performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirement:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Law Degree with five (5) years of Tax and/or Law experience.

Salary:
The annual salary is $68,000 per annum depending upon qualification of the applicant.
