This is the minimum rate at step one of the grade. Higher rates may be authorized in cases of hard-to-fill positions where it is appropriate to the qualification of the appointee.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The CPI Statistician t will report to the Assistant Secretary for the Division of Statistics and undertakes the following duties and responsibilities:
- Coordinates and supervises CPI activities in the states in relating to the following:
- Collections are conducted in a timely manner;
- Quality control checks are conducted and results documented;
- Ensure Item Temporarily Unavailable (ITU) and Item Permanently Unavailable (IPU) procedures are followed;
- Ensure all CPI forms for States collection spreadsheets are with the state offices and in good order in time for the next quarterly price collection.
- Review, compiles and disseminates CPI publication, such as including the following;
- Review of state data files;
- Linking and calculation of state and national CPI;
- Preparation and dissemination of CPI Publication;
- Training and mentoring of staff on CPI procedures;
- Familiarization of Price index and GDP deflator methodology and best practice;
- Maintain updating of CPI documentation and procedures;
- Maintain a coordinated CPI filing system, files, and computer archives;
- Rebasing of CPI weighting patterns after relevant survey conducted;
- Prepares a budget and schedule of activities relating to CPI
- Complies the Government Finance Statistics and related matters
- Work with other economics statisticians in the collection, tabulation, publication, and presentation of economics statistics;
- And perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS:
Graduated from an accredited College or University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, or Mathematics or related fields plus three (3) years of work experience.
